A collaborative internship program between the Delaware Department of Correction (DOC) and local universities is described. Interns are selected and trained to provide information to incarcerated women about the nature of human trafficking, sexual exploitation victimization. This program is presented in the detentioner population (those held pending trial). After an initial presentation, ideally in a small group format, interns return weekly to meet with the women to discuss ideas resulting from the initial presentation, provide available resources upon release, and to refer for mental health and trauma counseling at the facility as indicated. New group presentations are provided at new detentioners arrive.
